Brighenti as an artist is just like a child, curious, ready to try and invent, open to new things, and it is this blast of ingenuous freshness that he gives to his canvases, a bursting brightness and an unequal warmth and most of all he animates his subjects giving them back a lively quiver which conquers and excites.

In each of his works the painter's search comes through, that without reins impresses his experiences, experimenting colours, as if it were a game, without ever stopping, searching continuously for a trait, a colour, a sign, able to express a feeling, a landscape, a cell, a pictogram or a historic event.

Traversando la maremma toscana (1885).

Dolce paese dove portai conforme

e in quelle seguo de' i miei sogni l'orme
erranti, dietro il giovanile incanto.

Oh quel che amai , quel che sognai fu invano;
e sempre corsi e mai non giunsi al fine;
e dimani cadro'.
